Consortium of LND Energy GmbH and Hamburg’s SGH AG Secures 320 MW Onshore Wind Tender in Lower Saxony, Germany

Germany’s Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway (Bundesnetzagentur) recently released the results of its onshore wind auction. A bidding consortium jointly established by LND Energy GmbH and Hamburg-headquartered local energy enterprise SGH AG has won a large-scale 320 MW onshore wind development project in Lower Saxony, with a total investment of approximately EUR 464 million. This landmark project marks a milestone for both companies to deepen their presence in the core onshore wind market of Northern Germany.
Lower Saxony has the largest installed onshore wind capacity among all German federal states. The North German Plain features outstanding wind resources and mature grid integration capacity, making the state a core region for Germany to achieve its 2030 wind power expansion targets. This 320 MW project is a key tender lot under Germany’s annual renewable energy quota auction, attracting fierce competition from a host of leading European renewable energy developers.
The wind farm will be built on a prime wind zone in the central plains of Lower Saxony and will adopt high-capacity onshore wind turbines. Supporting auxiliary facilities include on-site collector cables, a 220 kV step-up substation and grid connection works. Upon full commissioning, the wind farm can generate sufficient clean power annually to cover the daily electricity demand of over 120,000 local households and achieve substantial annual CO₂ emission reductions, fully aligning with Lower Saxony’s energy transition and carbon neutrality implementation plans.
The two consortium partners have clear roles with complementary strengths:
- LND Energy GmbH – Principal EPC and O&M Contractor
The company shall take full charge of all EPC works for the entire wind farm, including civil construction of turbine foundations, complete turbine hoisting and installation, on-site electrical engineering and system commissioning. After grid connection, it will provide full-lifecycle operation and maintenance services for no less than 20 years, covering routine turbine inspections, breakdown maintenance, spare parts inventory management and unit performance optimisation to sustain high equipment availability hours of the wind farm. - Hamburg-based SGH AG – Lead Project Developer and Financial Operator
Drawing on its local German resource advantages, SGH AG will lead the full-cycle project development, covering pre-project land title verification, EIA approval procedures, grid connection licensing, government and stakeholder coordination and all other permitting formalities. It will structure the overall investment and financing framework, secure bank project financing and negotiate long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). After project completion, SGH AG will be responsible for overall plant operation, electricity settlement, asset financial management and investment return control.

Industry analysts pointed out that Germany has substantially increased its onshore wind tender volumes in 2026. Northern federal states including Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein keep releasing large-capacity wind power quotas, and consortium bidding combining local developers and professional EPC & O&M contractors has become the mainstream market model.
