LND Energy Delivers Diesel-Solar-Storage Microgrids to Senegal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment, Empowering Rural Irrigation and Livelihood Power Supply

Content Overview

Dakar, Senegal – 29 January 2026

German new energy enterprise LND Energy GmbH today officially completed the project delivery to Senegal’s Ministère de l’Agriculture et de l’Équipement Rural (MAER): five sets of 500kW/500kWh diesel-solar-storage independent energy microgrid systems for irrigation have been successfully commissioned. These systems will provide stable and clean power to five agriculture-dominated areas in Senegal plagued by power shortages, directly benefiting 680 farming households while effectively addressing the dual challenges of farmland irrigation and rural livelihood power supply.

The microgrid systems delivered this time adopt an off-grid standalone operation architecture, integrating photovoltaic power generation, diesel backup power, energy storage for peak regulation and intelligent control technologies to achieve energy self-sufficiency, stable power output and cost optimization. With agricultural irrigation as the core load, the systems are also equipped with reserved interfaces for surplus photovoltaic power, enabling them to supply daily livelihood power and emergency backup power to nearby villages. This creates a dual-scenario power supply capacity for agricultural production and livelihood security, effectively filling the gaps in grid coverage in remote areas.

Following the commissioning of the project, local agricultural production has broken free from the power supply bottlenecks of traditional diesel generators – characterized by high costs, heavy emissions and unstable operation – leading to a significant improvement in irrigation efficiency and crop yield stability. Farming households have seen a substantial drop in electricity costs, with reduced production expenditure and expanded profit margins, directly driving income and efficiency growth for 680 farming households. Operating independently from the main grid, the microgrids can sustain stable power supply during peak irrigation periods in the dry season and extreme weather events, laying a solid energy foundation for rural food security and agricultural modernization in Senegal.

A relevant official from Senegal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment stated that this project represents a key initiative for Senegal to advance the green transformation of agriculture and raise the level of universal rural energy access. The official expressed gratitude to LND Energy for its proven technologies and efficient delivery services, and looked forward to deepening cooperation in the future to promote the clean microgrid model to more remote agricultural areas across the country.

Vincent Gloreinam, Project Director at LND Energy, remarked at the delivery ceremony that the company focuses on the off-grid energy and agricultural electrification needs in Africa, and supports local sustainable development with integrated diesel-solar-storage microgrid solutions. The successful delivery of this project has validated the on-the-ground value of modular, highly adaptable microgrids in rural African scenarios. Going forward, LND Energy will continue to refine its technical solutions, providing reliable, cost-effective and low-carbon energy support for Senegal and more African countries, and contributing to the achievement of rural revitalization and food security goals.
